Guitar Learning Software Tips

I just bought a new music book. I realize that it is not guitar learning software, but I am trying to find it online to let you know which one it is. I am really excited about it. It is what the stores call a fake book. A fake book gives you popular songs that are made easy to play. I actually have a number of these. Some are awful and some are awesome.

The whole point about finding good software and tips to learn how to play the guitar is so you can also grab a book of folk, campfire, Christmas or any other kind of songs you want to play and be able to do it.

What I like about this one is that the book can be used for piano or guitar. Besides the words to songs and chords, it shows the chord’s fingering with tab pictures and gives separate tab layout to play the songs without knowing how to read music. It even gives a list of standard chord and picking patterns you can use.

Once you play your guitar more and sing along with it, you will find you will start feeling the rhythm and chords. Until then, take it from me, it is really nice to know which strum pattern to start out with.

I happened to be at the store where I bought my guitar. When I bought my Martin, they included a program called strings for life, which means I get a set of new strings every month for life as long as I come in to get them. It is a great store and very difficult to walk through without buying something. You would be surprised how much those free strings have cost me.

This was also a Christmas music book, and the holidays are coming so fast. I want to play that music now, sound good and have fun with both it, along with family and friends this season.

Anyway, if you get a fake book, make sure it is one in which the chords are easy to grab on the neck of the guitar. Also make sure they are your basic chords without a lot of variances like a Dbmaj7. My guess is that if you are good enough to grab those chords, you probably don’t need the fake book. For the rest of us, make sure you get a good one or you just will not use it.

Anyway, it feels great to buy a music book yuo can play out of the songs you want. Even if not real advanced, it is a great way to sound like you are!

When considering a music CD or instructional guitar DVD or download, the key I have been focusing on is how easy is it to understand and duplicate while at the same time increasing music talent. The next important thing is how well it converts to actual playing and performing of songs, not just finger and chord exercises.

Regardless of how great the software is, without some kind of practicing, it might not ever click and work. Ideally, it would be great to just play the song and not think about how we are playing, but just making the music itself.
